Be Prepared Before a Storm Strikes

The 2022 Hurricane Season is officially upon us. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting an “above normal” Atlantic Hurricane Season, stating: “For the 2022 hurricane season, NOAA is forecasting a likely range of14 to 21 named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher), of which 6 to 10 could become hurricanes (winds of 74 mph or higher), including 3 to 6 major hurricanes (category 3, 4 or 5; with winds of 111 mph or higher). NOAA provides these ranges with a 70% confidence.”

At Thorp & Trainer, we are committed to safeguarding your loved ones, homes, and businesses. In an effort to help you be prepared before, during and after a storm strikes, we encourage you to review this hurricane preparedness flyer. It provides valuable resources that can help you to weather the storm. Additionally, it offers helpful tips on what to do if your home is damaged.

Being prepared means being equipped with the proper supplies you may need in the event of an emergency or disaster. The American Red Cross believes that one of the most important steps you can take to protect your family is to assemble an emergency preparedness kit. We hope you will review this link to their website and see exactly what you and your family need in the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster.

One of the best ways to prepare for a loss before it happens is to create a home inventory or business inventory.  Having an accurate inventory and proof of ownership on hand can help simplify the claims process, should a loss occur. The inventory may take time to compile, but the time and frustration it could save you later will more than make up for it. A good home inventory checklist includes a list of your belongings including purchase receipts, full descriptions, and photos of your home’s contents.
