Howard joined the firm in 1990.  Since then, he was named president of Thorp & Trainer in 2004 as well as CEO in 2010. A graduate of The Citadel, Howard is very active in the insurance industry as well as the community.  He serves on the board of directors of The Independent Insurance Agents of RI as President Elect, and is also Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee, and is President of Stand Up For Animals.

Elizabeth has over 26 years of experience in the insurance industry, and has worked in several different capacities since joining Thorp & Trainer.  Having served as Account Manager for both personal and commericlal lines, she has extensive knowledge of insurance products and services.  She was promoted to Agency Manager, Vice President and is also Corporate Secretary to the Board of Director's.  Elizabeth directs the preparation of all financial documentation, as well as managing the day to day procedures for all Thorp & Trainer clients.  In addition, she also handles all administrative functions of the company.  An active member of Certified Professional Insurance Women (CPIW) for many years, Elizabeth has also served on the Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island Convention Committee. 

Kelly Townsend, AAI, AIS, AINS, PGI

Kelly has been with the agency since 2000. She is an active member of the Coastal Committee with the Independent Insurance Agents of Rhode Island, as well as the Young Agents Association of Rhode Island. She has recently completed her designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance, (AAI) and holds other designations as well. She has an extensive management background, having worked as a manager and regional supervisor for a franchise.

Sarah joined Thorp & Trainer in 2002 as an account manager. Sarah holds the INS as well as the Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI) designations for Personal Insurance and is a member of the Young Agents.

Hope Mitchell, AAI

Hope joined the Thorp & Trainer team in 2001 holding  positions as receptionist/processor, and now as personal lines account manager. She has been an active member of Deborah Chapter #9 Order of Eastern Star for 25 years and is a member of the Masonic Foundation. In addition, she has been on the advisory board for Westerly Assembly #7 International Order for the Rainbow for Girls for 10 years and currently holds the position of Senior Treasurer. She was also a den pack leader for cub scouts.

Stacy is a Westerly native and has been employed at Thorp & Trainer since 2008. Calling Thorp & Trainer, Stacy was the first voice that you heard as she began her career as our receptionist.  During this time, Stacy trained and studied preparing for her first professional insurance designation and has obtained her Rhode Island Property & Casualty License and now joins our team of dedicated Account Managers.

Monica has worked for the agency since 2004 beginning as policy processor.  She has held positions as assistant commercial lines account manager, and receptionist/processor. In 2009 Monica took on the role of Commercial Lines account manager.

Luke joined the Thorp & Trainer team in 2010, assuming the role of Account Executive. With
professional expertise in commercial lines insurance, Luke holds a B.S. in Accounting from Salve Regina University. He has over 6 1/2 years of insurance experience, having previously served as a Commercial Lines Manager. Luke has also received his designation of Accredited Advisor in Insurance (AAI), and currently serves on the committee for the Young Insurance Agents of Rhode Island.

Theresa Cavalier

Theresa has joined the agency to oversee the Financial Services Division.   In addition to her Life Insurance license, she is a registered investment advisor holding a series 7, and 66.  This allows her to service and assist with a full spectrum of clients’ financial needs including life insurance, long term care insurance, annuities, college planning, disability insurance, estate planning, retirement planning, as well as comprehensive investment portfolio planning reviews and analysis.  Theresa is currently in the process of obtaining her Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations.  A Westerly native and graduate of East Carolina University, Theresa brings an advanced knowledge of life insurance planning, strategies, and servicing capabilities.  As Vice President of the Downtown Business Association, Theresa is also an active member of the community.
